"I'm sorry. I was in free flight there. Let me get supper on the table."

He followed her into the kitchen. "Can I help?"

She started to say no, but he didn't normally ask. She smiled.

"I already set the table. Maybe you could fill the glasses with tea? It's in the refrigerator."

They worked together getting supper on the table. Alex was handy in the kitchen. That probably came from being a bachelor so long. Still, it wasn't something he normally did. He enjoyed coming home and sitting in his chair, relaxing and reading the newspaper while she put supper on the table. He was trying so hard to please her. Why? Why was he so concerned about losing her? If he kept this up, he'd burn out and then he'd really be ready to leave. One thing was sure. The more he stepped out of the norm to please her, the more uneasy she became.
