"But Gerald is here now." Her gaze left him and drifted over the land that held all his animals. When she met his gaze again, she smiled. "It appears you have some like interests as well."

For a moment his gaze ran over her face in that searching way she had grown accustomed to. He was searching her mind and coming up short again. Finally he nodded.

"Apparently." He sighed. "Sometimes I wonder which ones."

She stared at him. Surely he didn't think Gerald had an interest in her. No, he said he trusted Gerald. He had no reason to be concerned about Gerald. If he had any concern at all, it was Rob. But then, he knew that. He told her not to encourage him. She didn't need to. He probably couldn't be discouraged. It was going to be an interesting visit, to say the least.
