Now it was Jennifer's turn to put her hand on Johns. "John, it's okay. Like you just told me that was something you needed to say, I'm glad you shared it with me. And I'm so sorry to hear about your lousy partner and business loss."
Sergio walked near where John and Jennifer were seated and held up a small megaphone and made an announcement. "All those who are with tour group 473, please join me in ten minutes at the center of the plaza next to the tall monument, we will begin our walking tour from there."
John looked down at his watch. "I can't believe it's been almost an hour already." They both finished up their sandwiches and drinks and then walked over to join the people from their tour group that had already started to congregate in the middle of the plaza.
The next three hours they walked from site to site, Sergio explaining the history of each stop and usually had an interesting story or two about it. After the tour ended John and Jennifer walked back to their hotel together talking about their day.
"So what did you think John, did you enjoy the tour?
"I did, I found it very interesting. This is the first time I've ever been out of the United States. I'm not used to real ancient history, it's great."
"I agree. I hated World History class in school, but in person this is somehow incredible. I love the architecture here. The one thing I really want to see up close is the Coliseum and the place across the street, the uh, I can't remember what it was called some kind of Roman senate ruins."
"I think you're talking about the Imperial Forum ruins, the big ruins that are across from the Coliseum."
"Yeah, that's it. I would love to walk through those."
"Me too, maybe I'll see you there. From what Michael tells me, he will need me for the whole day tomorrow when we visit their manufacturing facilities. But for the rest of the time he told me I should take tours or shop. As long as I have my phone on me he can call and ask any questions that might crop up that he can't answer."
They arrived at the hotel and John said goodbye to Jennifer as she headed to her elevator to go to her suite. She stopped at the elevator and watched John walking away toward his elevator bank on the other side of the lobby. She suddenly felt lonely again, then had a feeling that she would love to chase after John, she wanted to spend more time with him. She dismissed it as a silly thought and pushed the button to call the elevator."
