John looked at Jennifer with a knowing look and nodded his head. "I have."
She turned her head and looked John in the eyes. "How did you get past it how did you stop the pain in your chest and the hurting in your head?"
"I didn't stop it. It just seemed to fade away. I think it takes as long as it takes to mend the hurt that was done. Don't worry about it, I understand what you're going through, it will pass with time, I promise."
Jennifer reached across the table and took Johns hand in hers, squeezing it slightly. "Thanks, I really meant it when I said I'm glad you're here. I think I would have just laid on the hotel floor in Rome and curled up into a ball if I didn't have you around to help me through this. I think what really has me worried is talking to Michael about this. I'm not sure what to say, any ideas for me?"
John smiled lovingly at her. "No, but let your heart do the talking. Try not to let your anger talk for you, that's when we usually say things we don't mean and we end up doing more damage. Have you heard anything from him yet?"
"No, I think he's afraid to call. He's waiting till I cool down a bit before he calls back. The last time we had a big argument, that's what he did. He waited a couple of days and then called."
After they finished their breakfast they set out to see the sights. With a tourist map in hand they went out to brave the Venice streets. A couple of hours later they stopped at a Gelato shop for a late morning snack. Sitting on a couple of chairs outside the shop both eating their Orange and Chocolate flavored Gelatos they were watching the tourists walk by. Jennifer turned to look at John. "Promise me you won't tell me where the Gelato shop back home is. I'll have you know that I think you've gotten me hooked on these things. You know what else? I don't think I've thought about my problems with Michael since we left the hotel and we started our adventure, that's good. Let's keep me busy, I only want to think about this place and you today"
John finished up his Gelato and wiped his mouth with his napkin. "I'll try, in the hotel lobby I picked up not only our trusty map here, but also a list of guided tours and points of interest. Should be enough here to keep us very busy until we leave Sunday night. Listen to this." John opened up a pamphlet and read to Jennifer. "One of the guided tours is to the island where all of the Murano glass is made. They show you how their glass blowing craftsmen make all those incredible items. How does that sound?"
