"That was the carrot I dangled in front of him to get him to come on board and fix our problem. He wouldn't have joined if I hadn't offered him the senior supervisor position and given him the salary he asked for. I always intended to let him go after he fixed it. I can get someone for much less money to fill that position for the day to day stuff."
Jennifer stood there, now she knew her face was bright red, she felt the heat buildup in her cheeks. "So you lied to him to get him to sign on board and fix your gadget and then you were just going to let him go? I can't believe you lied to him, how could you do that someone?'
"Easy, I lie all the time to get whoever or whatever I want in life, doesn't matter who they are. I always say what I have to so that I get what I want."
Jennifer's anger still building in her toward Michael's callousness. She looked down to her engagement ring as she spun it around on her finger nervously, suddenly she realized the whole truth about the relationship between Michael and her, and now it all made sense.
