Kill Fest - Page 41/133

Powering her cycle through the streets of Miami with her ponytail whipping in the wind, Aurora tried to clear her head. That morning she had it out with Athena, who once looked up to her as the big sister, only now to be looked upon as nothing more than a killer and a drunk. Her right hand revving the throttle harder and harder as the bike blew far beyond the 55 speed limit in Miami's downtown district. As she neared 100 mph, she maintained complete control over the beast between her legs as she hugged the machine like a lover in her embrace.

As her sister's painful words ate at her soul, she seemed to grip the throttle even more, forcing the black and blue Ninja deeper into the night. Just hours after she had to confront Athena, Kimba found her doing something she had never found her lover doing before. Kimba found Aurora at the apartment complex poolside workout room. Her girl's confused questions still ringing in her ears.

"Ah….what the hell are you doing?"

"I'm working out baby!"

"I see that…but…but why?"

"What do you mean why?"

"Well, you had never worked out before…..that's all.

"Ah…well I'm doing it for you, I thought I'll get rid of by bear belly pooch….you know, look and feel better."

Her lying words to her most beloved companion were ripping at her soul. For had she told Kimba the truth why she was really trying to get into shape, it would not have gone so well. She knew if she was to compete with other assassins for a hefty fee, she was going to have to clean up her act….. fast.

She hated to lie to someone she cared for so much and yet their whole relationship had been based on deception, for Kimba never really knew the true woman she lay beside. Faster and faster she rode her bike like a demon from Hell itself as she tried in vain to shake all the lies loose from her mind. What she was about to do would benefit everyone if she had anyone left to return to?

Gripping the handle bars harder and leaning over the bike's sleek frame in a low posture, she powered her beast into the 140 speed range. The power beneath her was intense and felt as though the machine would take flight at any given moment. At that velocity, the split white lines in the road become one and the feel of the pavement below was as smooth as glass. The speed, the power of the bike and the wind whipping in her face always gave the young brunette a sense of freedom like nothing else. It was where she could be alone with her thoughts and come to grips with the good as well as the bad in her life. Up until now, she had no decision in mind other than the night's endless oblivion. But a decision however did come to mind and she moved her way off the main thoroughfare and rode toward Athena's home.
