Sara's body relaxed. "You didn't want me to come along Roy. I should have stayed at home."

"I disagree, Sara. It's just I had one thing in mind and it turned out different today. That's all. I certainly never meant to hurt you, but I'm thrilled you came along. Darn it all, I hadn't even thought about lunch. Those boys would be starving right now if you hadn't come along."

Chuckling, Sara started crying lightly. "That's true. You're a typical man in that regard."

Roy pushed Sara away but held tightly onto her shoulders. "Sara Johansson, I am not like any other man! If I have learned anything being around you and your boys, it's that I am capable of having many feelings." Roy's voice trailed off as he searched for the right words. "I'm old Sara and probably too old for you. I'm just grateful to be part of your family. I've never had anything this nice happen to me in my entire life." With those words, Roy exhausted his ability to express himself and dropped his shoulders, letting Sara go.

"Roy Folsom, you are one of the nicest men I know. You're kind to my boys and they love you; like you were their father."

"But, I'm not…"

"Listen to me Roy, I don't care how old you are, what you've done, or where you've been. I just see a good man that I like and want in my life. I want you in the life of my family."

"I could never replace Olof and besides, I know nothing about being a father or husband."

Smiling, Sara wrapped her arms around Roy and squeezed tight. "You're not replacing anybody Roy. You're unique in your own right and we're lucky to have you. Abe and Billy need a father and for someone without any experience, you're doing a darn good job."

"You're only saying this because you're desperate."

Aggravated, Sara grabbed Roy's face and pulled it close to hers.

"Roy Folsom, will you, please shut up."

She then started kissing Roy hard on the lips. At first, Roy resisted because he was unsure what to do, but it also felt good. Wrapping his arms around Sara, Roy lifted the woman off the ground and passionately kissed her soft lips. The moment was delicious and lasted for infinity.

"Hey, are you two ready to go? Billy and I want some fish for dinner."

Embarrassed, Roy gently set Sara on the ground and then the two lovers walked hand-in-hand toward the wagon. Without any effort, Roy scooped Sara off the ground and placed her on the buckboard seat. She flushed red.
