A Walk on the Water - Page 142/186

"No need to worry me? What if your plans to bring my father into the Chateau backfire and he tries to kill you?"

"I will take all the necessary precautions, my love."

"It's not just you I worry about, what of our child? How would I go on to give birth without you here?"

Dominic stood up from the desk and looked at her, he was grinning from ear to ear, "Alannah did you say child? Does that mean what I think it means?"

"Anya says that I am pregnant, and your mother looked at me kind of oddly this morning. I haven't been feeling well this last week, I've thrown up a couple of time. Dominic please won't you reconsider."

"I am a very good judge of character, having your father here with you and your brothers will be like a family reuinion. And if you indeed are pregnant, then I will have even more of a reason to bring him here, maybe the baby will change him."

"Dominic….." Alannah said she started crying, and crumpled against his chest.

Dominic took out a hanky from his pocket and handed it to Alannah, "I want nothing but the best for you, and our child. I would love for all of our children to know both sets of Grandparents. Family is everything to me, please understand mon ami, I would not knowingly put you in harms way."

"Alright, Dominic I will trust you." She said looking up at him, "but you need to tell me…" he leaned down to her and they kissed a very passionate kiss. She started to protest and say something else, but Dominic chuckled and picked her up lightly in his arms.

"I need to tell you what?"

"You . . . arrogant . . ."

"Yes" he replied, an amused eyebrow raised as he smiled at her. "I am arrogant, and that is a well-known fact." He said suddenly pressing his lips to hers. "Have you any more words of wisdom to add, or shal we just head to the bedroom?"

"You have no right ….."

"As your husband, I do what I must to keep you safe. Would you rather I wasn't true to my convictions? Or to you?"

She subsided, unable to suppress a half smile. "Alright, Dominic, I give up. Just what should I be ready for now?"
