A Walk on the Water - Page 164/186

"You have the man that I wanted, that I had dreamed about all my life and now you are having his child?? There is food and water on the table, get dressed and make it snappy. We leave here in one hour." Rosemary told her. "There is bread, cheese, fruit and meat and some clean water for drinking, too. Hurry up! And stop pretending to be modest!"

Biting back on unaccustomed rage, Alannah got herself cleaned up and finished getting dressed, all the while Rosemary sat there staring at her with daggers in her eyes. When she was finally able to stand withoug falling over, Alannah managed to make it to the table and she bagan forcing herself to eat. As Alannah began to eat she discovered that she was so hungry that her hands were soon trembling uncontrollably. She was able to eat most of the meat and cheese, and then washed it all down with water. She looked at the bread and almost threw up as the thoughts of the broth soaked bread came quickly back to the forefront of her mind. Alannah also ate some of the fruit to help get her energy back up. Alannah chose the foods and fruits that she knew had the most protein in order to assist with her present condition. As she sat there eating, she swore to herself that given any opening any sliver of a chance to get away she would do so at all cost.

"Now that you have nourished yourself," Rosemary said when Alannah was done, "it is time for us to get going. Hold out your wrists so I can tie them together. Don't get any ideas! I have men guarding the place, front and side. There is no way out except throught that door."

Alannah allowed Rosemary to tie her wrists, which unfortunately she did all too well. Rosemary then lead Alannah out through the front door and into the barn, there Alannah was told to get into the wagon that was there and lay down on the floor. The young stable boy that she had seen earlier was there, he had at least padded the floor of the wagon with hay, and as she struggled to get in, he assisted her and then covered her with blankets.

"Do not move or make a sound!" Rosemary told her. If you do anything to make your prescense known I put a bullet right through your head."

Rosemary got up into the drivers seat and as they got underway, Alannah lie there on the floor of the wagon, feeling cramped and uncomfortable. With every bump of the wheels Alannah whimpered, with the condition her body was in she was in no shape to be traveling like this. As the wagon moved forward Alannah thought that she heard voices. Rosemary stopped the wagon and another male got in. She knew that Eraldo had met up with them by the tone of his voice. Rosemary told him of the surprise that Alannah had shared and Eraldo uttered something that only Alannah could decipher.
