"Hello, I'm Timothie," he said as he held out her hand
"Alannah"
"I do apologize for saying this Alannah, but I couldn't help but notice you at the top of the hill. You appeared to be troubled and hurt, is there anything I can do to help?" Timothie said as they sat there talking, Alannah felt oddly at ease with this boy. Without even thinking she told him of her troubles, about everything that was going on in her life. He listened to her very intently and when she was done, he comforted her and he told her of how God could help take her pain away. He told her that if she would let him, that God would always be there for her in every season of her life.
"How can you say such things? Was it not God, who allowed my father to send my brothers away? Was it not God, who let my father beat me like this? Hasn't God forsaken me?"
"Oh, Alannah, no God has not forsaken you. He loves you very much and he has put you here on this path tonight for a reason. Do you not see? God placed you here on this path because he knew you needed me, Alannah this path is the very path that I walk every night. Alannah if you trust in Him you will never walk alone again. Come." Timothie stood up and reached for her hand, the two of them walked hand in hand to the rose garden, and just then the rain stopped and a beautiful double rainbow appeared in the sky, and for the first time in weeks Alannah felt hopeful.
Timothie walked Alannah home, he paid her a visit nearly every day after that. It was on the third day after the rainstorm that he noticed Alannah was not doing well; he went and found Sophie who sent for the doctor. Alannah ended up with pneumonia and was in bed recovering for two weeks. During her illness, Timothie was at her side day in and day out, reading scriptures to her and talking about the village. After Alannah recovered, the two were practically inseparable; Alannah would go to Church with Timothie every Sunday and then join his family for supper after services. Timothies parents were watching Timothie fall in love while they were watching Alannah learn to love Christ. Alanna's parents were another story, they had other plans for Alannah and they would do anything to break the two of them up. Alannah would spend every free moment reading the scriptures, talking for hours with Timothie and doing what her father required of her. More and more her father was taking more of her time, leaving less for Timothie and God's word, through this entire journey she still longed to be free. Every night before bed, she would pray for protection for her brothers for her family, for Timothie and for something to change. Then she would read the scriptures and go to bed.
