That night Timothie kissed her, a kiss she would remember for the rest of her life, but it was not enough to keep Alannah in Dalkey. Alannah had to choose to become the wife of the local Priests son or follow through with the arranged marriage. This is where the past and the present clash, where Alannah chose to run.

Timothie,

By the time you read this I will be on my way away from here. I can no longer stay here and suffer the abuse I have put up with at the hands of my father, I am sorry my dearest Timothie, but I must bid you farewell. Thank you Timothie for loving me and being a true friend, thank you for showing me that God does love me, even though I do not deserve it. I pray that one day our paths will cross again, and by that time I pray that the scars I bear both physical and mental will have healed and that I can truly be healed from the pain.
