She had seen very little of Dominic outside of the romantic evening ride home from Anya's, and the afternoon after that Rosemary pretended to offer her "help." Alannah was confused about her feelings for Dominic and his feelings for her. She had heard him say that he was falling for her, and then she was standing right there when he told Erik that he wanted to make her his Bride, so why did he continue to let Rosemary cling to him so?
She was in heaven the night that Dominic had come to get her from Anya's home. That day had been a busy one, chasing toddlers around the farmhouse and then to end it listening to the owls hooting in the night followed by his declararion of love when he thought she was fast asleep. Then when they got to the Chataeu he carried her to her room and carefully laid her on her bed, kissed her goodnight, oh what a dream. So why was it that Rosemary could call him a coward?
She was jolted out of her thoughts as the buggy came to an abrupts stop. She looked up from her lap and as though manifested just the thought of him, there sat Dominic blocking her forward progress. He was sitting upon his horse, looking magnificent, the very portrait of a man who was not ruled by his fears.
"Señorita Ferguson," he said formally, nodding his head in her direction and touching the brim of his hat. "I have been waiting for you, come let us walk, and talk for a bit." He dismounted and walked over to her buggy and helped her down, he lifted her gently by her waist and sat her down on the ground. Then, he untied Dutch and led both horsed to a tree where he tethered them, making sure the are that they were in had plenty of grass to munch on. Alannah watched him with mixed emotions, she was anxious to know what he was up to, yet just being here with him was calming to her soul. Did this have anything to do with Erik and what he asked of Erik after he sent her away?
"Come Alannah," he said holding out his hand for her "would you like to walk or sit?"
Alannah smiled and took his hand, "What is it you want to talk about?"
"All in due time my sweet, all in due time. You know I think it might be best if you sit. Although you have passed out before, you do not strike me as the fainting type. I that you have been a very emotional lady up until recently, and with good cause." He said taking her hand, "how about we sit on that tree stump over there? It seems to be catching the last of the afternoon sun, and should keep us plenty warm."
