Her Nocturnal Lover - Page 32/46

It was Bill's later romance with Bradley that had brought the catastrophe with his mom. Bradley was a writer. He was popular. Just like Bill. Only that Bill was not a writer. He preferred to call himself a business man. That's what he was. Their romance had caught several headlines in Australia. The publicity had been much that Bill's mom couldn't keep it silent, yet it was tarnishing her image in church. That's how she had ended up calling for a divorce and flying to Israel. Bill however, had had kept in touch with Bradley, their romance publicized enough that it no longer caught as many headlines.

It had all been well until he'd placed his eyes on Linda. The girl had just turned up one day in a club and proved to him that everything he believed in might be wrong. He had thought that he would never have any feelings for any woman until he'd placed eyes on her. Uncertainty devoured him.

Now he was in the bathroom. Nursing his pain. It hurt him that he was hurting Bradley. Yet it hurt him even more that he was locking Linda into this tangle of events. He was weeping. It was the first three days that he'd found a message from Bradley and it was because the other man was losing patience. Why wasn't he responding to Bradley's calls? No texts, no emails. Bradley was starting to lose it. Bill wondered what Linda would think if she found out. That he was having a male partner and still keeping her around. He was afraid the result would be bad and he did not like it.

Their love making the night before had built something in him that he'd not thought existed in him. It had awakened his deepest feelings. They had made love over and over until Linda had slept off in exhaustion. Bill had kept awake for about forty minutes, just watching Linda. Then he had slept off himself. He had woken up two hours ago only to find her wrapped around him. He couldn't help but smile. He had to fight the urge not to make love to her again. He'd wanted to make love to her real bad, yet he did not want to disturb her sleep.

He had felt pain while he untangled himself from her so he could pick his phone. He had felt his adrenaline rush through his veins while a purge of guilt hit him. He had watched the phone ring until it had stopped. Bradley had kept calling until the sixth time when he decided to give up and send a message. Now Bill was looking at it over and over. He was at his wits end. He loved Linda for sure. He would admit on any day that he was falling in love with her, yet he still couldn't bring himself to admit that he was out of love with Bradley. He wanted to tell himself that these feelings he was developing each day for Linda were only a matter of time. That they would fade when he has messed up with Bradley and fail to find his way. He wanted to convince himself that he would be able to love Linda despite all his wrongs as a person. That what Dibba had told him was not true. That Linda would not get bored and walk away like Nathan had done to him. Wasn't it the same thing that he was doing to Bradley?
