He finished his breakfast and ordered two pieces of toast to go. He then headed for Quay Harbor to dispose of the pistol. This was a lot easier than Arflin had anticipated. There were only two couples walking along the sidewalk. They hadn't even noticed Arflin as he got out of the car and walked up to the railing over looking Quay Harbor. He began to crumble the toast into small pieces as he fed them to the gulls that gathered around him. Anyone watching would think he was jus t there to feed the gulls. He looked around once more just to make sure no one was watching. He tossed the pistol about 50 feet into the harbor. The gulls flew quickly to where the pistol splashed into the water thinking it to be food. Arflin left the rest of the toast on the sidewalk and the gulls quickly devoured it as he walked back to the car.
"That takes care of that," he whispered as he got into the car.
Arflin 's next stop was the Sydney airport. This particular morning security was at a minimum. He had everything he needed. His passport was valid and everything was in order. He casually walked up to the ticket counter. The lady at the ticket counter greeted him with a smile and asked where he would like to go?
"I would like a ticket in coach to Bogota, Columbia," he said as she glanced down at the schedule listings.
"Yes sir, but you will have to change planes in Paris, France. I can set this up for you so your luggage will be on the same plane you are traveling on at all times," the lady assured him.
"I thank you. I hate to go to one destination while my luggage takes another route," Arflin laughed.
It didn't take long before the lady had everything arranged. Arflin paid for the tick ET and listened carefully to the instructions the lady gave him. "Your flight leaves at 1:20 pm sir. You should be at the terminal at least an hour before your flight is scheduled to leave. An attendant took his luggage and handed him a baggage claim check.
"Now sir all you need to do is go to your departure gate when your plane is called," the attendant told him.
Arflin thanked him and gave him a nice tip. He thanked the lady at the ticket counter and left to dispose of the car.
It didn't take long before Arflin found a car dealer anxious to buy the car.
"I'm leaving the country and I won't be back for quite some time. Will you call a taxi so I can make it to the airport before my flight leaves?" Arflin asked the car dealer.
