Empty space. Thin air. "People don't just vanish into thin air, Bria." I rub my fingers together, then wave them around, testing the air, feeling for something, anything.

Air is not thin. Space is not empty. Something got sucked out of this room and something else replaced what was taken away-maybe even something toxic. You cannot have a vacuum in space. The cosmological constant proves it. My mother proved it.

Now I have to prove it.
