“Not if I hold onto them,” Jett said, adding softly, “Not if they’re real.”

He smiled, and for the first time I felt hopeful.

“I hope our child gets your long eyelashes,” he said, his breath warm brushing my lips as his hands caressed my face. “In fact, if we have a girl, we’re naming her Treasure.”

Whoa, he had chosen our kid’s name already? Without me?

“Hell, no.” I snorted.

“Why not?” His hand trailed up my thigh, gathering in the waistband of my jeans. “I said it once and I’ll say it again. You’re my treasure, Brooke, so the name’s perfect for her.”

“That’s debatable.” I tried to push his hand away, but it was a feeble attempt. “Besides, what makes you think it’s a girl?”

“It has to be.” His lips curled up at one corner. “But in the off chance I’m wrong, I’ll let you pick out a boy’s name.” His mouth found mine, and under the stars, no kiss could’ve been more perfect—a moment I hoped would never end.

Life’s uncontrollable, unpredictable, and a hell of a mess. Without fear, loss, and the wrong choices we made, we wouldn’t be who we were. And while some of our decisions had broken us, the pain glued us together. Without the passion, we wouldn’t have surrendered and conquered what we never thought could be ours. Without Jett’s love, I wouldn’t have learned the true value of our relationship.

When Jett saved me, he saved not only my life, but also my hopes and our future. He allowed me to believe that our love would never fade away. He left a memory I didn’t want to forget, and now I was ready to treasure his love forever.
