Chapter 680: Killing A Boss With Five Players

Lu Li was transported to a Desolace where the other players were waiting.

There were three Thieves and two Druids. All of them could go into Stealth, and one Druid was responsible for healing, while the other was responsible for tanking the monsters. The remaining Thieves were there for damage output.

Druids were quite a strong profession and were definitely more than a jack of all trades.

"Great guru Lu Li, if you see any good defensive Druid equipment in future, please remember me," Deep Watersong said, then paused before continuing, "Our Water Sister is quite rich…"

This guy was completely shameless.

"If you say one more word, I'll kick you out." Water Fairy glanced at him and he immediately stopped.

The female tycoon was the number one authority in their guild, so whatever she said was unquestioningly obeyed.

After getting to know each other, Lu Li said, "Before going into this Instance Dungeon, help me kill a Wild Boss. It shouldn't be hard, especially with five players."

He had just thought of this idea when he arrived; there was a very special Boss in the area.

There was a simple reason as for why Lu Li didn't just kill secretly kill the Boss with his own guild. They had an alliance with Water Fairy and he didn't mind giving her a share of the profit. If they didn't do it today and there was a First Clear Announcement tomorrow, the female tycoon might have thought he did this behind her back. This would cause a divide between the two guilds.

Additionally, the items that this Boss could drop were quite ordinary, so it wasn't that important to Lu Li.

Moreover, Lu Li didn't want to unnecessarily waste resources. He had killed this Boss several times in his previous life and the major guilds generally weren't interested in it.

The other players didn't believe what he was saying.

"What kind of Boss can be defeated by 5 players?"

Desolace was a level 40 area with Centaurs, Vultures, Kodos, Lizards, Elementals, Hyenas, Thunder Lizards, Demons and Burning Blade Clan Demon Followers. All of these monsters lived in a rather dense population.

Most players were currently looking for minerals and resources, so there were few players training here. However, training here wasn't very efficient anyway – the monsters were hard to kill and the EXP wasn't that great.

"I'm going to try something unusual; it's something I've recently come up with. But, if it fails, we might lose some EXP," Lu Li said half-truthfully.

"There's nothing to be scared of. If we can kill the Boss, then we'll make up for the EXP," Deep Watersong said excitedly.

His temperament was like most other players; he became excited as soon as he heard that a Boss could be killed. Killing a Boss meant that they could gain exquisite materials, equipment, skill books or even special items.

Lu Li didn't mention that the Boss was quite ordinary and just brought everyone out of the Nijel's outpost in Desolace.

The land here was originally a rich-green and was part of Feralas. However, after the invasion of the Burning Legion, most of the creatures were killed and the land had become barren.

After the Burning Legion were defeated on Mount Hyjal, a large number of surviving demons retreated back here, along with the Warlocks from the Burning Blade Clan.

While the regeneration of resources in the area was stunted, a team of adventurers built Nijel's Outpost and used it as a base to fight the Maraudine Tribe.

There were mercenaries everywhere, and most of them fought for money. However, these mercenaries were untrustworthy – some even did business with Centaurs.

After leaving the outpost, all five of them went into Stealth and followed Lu Li's lead.

They managed to detect two scouts, who were both level 45 NPCs. If they were engaged in battle, they would transform into monsters that were similar to bandits. After killing them, a player could plunder whatever they had.

There was no way they could tail the scouts while remaining in Stealth, especially with all the monsters that were in the area. Eventually, they had no choice but to turn back.

Lu Li believed that a simple plan was always better, so he decided not to engage.

Water Fairy was eager to take on the NPCs, but was eventually convinced by Lu Li that it wasn't worth it.

As they approached Thunder Axe Fortress, they passed by Kormek's Hut. The group had been travelling for quite some time before finally arriving at Lu Li's destination – The Mannoroth Assembly.

These remnants of demonic architecture had been built by the Abyss Lord Mannoroth, and likely housed the Shadow Council that was used to summon the Burning Legion's troops. The Burning Blade Clan had reopened the portal with the Hand of Iruxos, so a green fireball would periodically fall from the sky and hit the ground to form a weak fire elemental.

"The System just prompted me that this is the Mannoroth Assembly. Are there many Abyss Lords here?" Deep Watersong asked as his face went pale.

Lu Li found it quite admirable that he knew who Lord Mannoroth was, unlike Hachi Chan who was an ignorant and naïve Druid.

"Don't worry, there aren't any Abyss Lords here," Lu Li said.

The Abyss Lords were said by some to have 'outstanding strength and the ability to destroy all life'. They were usually quite large, had a dragon-like appearance with a pair of abominable wings and came from the universe's underworld.

The underworld was a place that connected all the chaotic powers of the universe. Those that gathered there were bent on destroying all life.

The Abyss Lords, who were obsessed with killing, would hone their fighting abilities in the underworld. As such, when Archimonde the Defiler asked them to join the armies of Sargeras, they gladly complied.

Mannoroth was one of the best and was named the Vanguard at the time.

He was a violent demon, and was particularly interested in death and destruction. He was one of the top three Abyss Lords and the leader of the Burning Legion. When Kil'Jaeden was trying to tempt the Orcs during the invasion, Mannoroth had played a crucial role.

During the second invasion of the Burning Legion and under the advice of Lord Tochondrius, Mannoroth dripped his blood into a spring of water and lured the Orcs to that location. Hellscream succumbed to the temptation and drank from the spring which had been tainted Mannoroth's blood. This greatly increased the strength of the Warsong clan and in one night, they destroyed the Night Elf's guard and successfully killed Cenarius.

Of course, the immortal demigod later resurrected from nothing and became even stronger.

With the help of Medivh's leadership and Jaina Proudmoore, Saar managed to reclaim Gorm Hellscream's mind through a ritual. Realizing that he had almost brought the Orcs beyond redemption, Hellscream and Saar went to try and defeat Mannoroth.

However, Mannoroth's Strength was so great that he easily defeated Saar.

In a critical moment, Hellscream gave himself up by relying on the demon's blood once again and using his full strength to execute Mannoroth, but died as a result of Mannoroth's final counterattack.

With Mannoroth's death, the demon's blood in the Orcs was no longer effective and they were freed from his curse.

This was what was written in most books, but some thought that such a powerful Abyss Lord couldn't really die and instead was now in the Abyss gathering his strength to come back.

The Mannoroth Assembly was one such place where they thought he would come back from.

The Boss that Lu Li wanted to kill was the person responsible for the Ritual Of Summoning – Jugkar, the Burning Blade Clan's Highest Priest. He was a level 45 Advanced Warlock and the most powerful presence in this map.
