Chapter 203 – Chapter 203: To pull the bow (1)

A few moments later, the wooden door slowly opened.

The shop assistant hurriedly invited Shen Yanxiao to go in.

Thick curtains block off any light coming from the windows causing the room to be pitch black with no light to be seen. Shen Yanxiao had just entered but she already felt the heat that was filling up this room. Under the light congealing crystals hanging from the ceiling, Shen Yanxiao saw a 60-year-old white-bearded old man holding a pipe pouch while sitting on a chair. His pair of sharp eyes stared at her. At the white-bearded old man’s side stood a 40-year-old middle-aged man.

“Are you going to buy the bow?” The white-bearded old man smoked a pipe, squinting his eyes at the little one in front of him. It was no exaggeration to say that when he heard the dark purple longbow was picked up by someone, he guessed it would be taller than this little guy.

Shen Yanxiao immediately guessed the identity of the old man, he must be the division master that the shop assistant mentioned.

“Yes.”

The meticulous look of the division master was like big thorns stabbing Shen Yanxiao’s body, sizing her up. His eyes swept over Shen Yanxiao’s small arms and legs; his brows immediately creased up into a frown before he said: “This bow will only be sold to the one who’s destined to it. Unless you can pull the string, you can put the bow down and leave.”

Shen Yanxiao raised an eyebrow; she lifted her hand and attempted to pull the bowstring, but the division master suddenly spoke again: “If you want to try, not here, come with me.”

With that, he got up and left the room.

Shen Yanxiao found the old man’s attention to her somewhat bizarre. But who let him be the master? Hence, she could only immediately followed after him.

Through the dark steps, Shen Yanxiao felt herself walking down a long path. A moment later, there was finally a glimmer of light in sight.

It was a huge underground field. Standing at the entrance, Shen Yanxiao was slightly surprised to see that the whole area was half the size of a football field. Who would have expected that the underground of such a humble two-storey building hid a spacious place?

Within the field, hundreds of light congealing crystals hung high above the ceiling; bright light enveloped the whole underground space.

Weapons of all professions were neatly placed at both sides of the field. Extending from the entrance to the inside, you could clearly see the area that was specifically used for shooting.

Walking besides Shen Yanxiao was the middle-aged man, who was standing at the side of the division master before. He couldn’t help but looked at the dark purple longbow in Shen Yanxiao’s hand.

“Can I inspect that?” The tone of the middle-aged man was mild.

Shen Yanxiao thought about it before giving the bow to him.

The man’s hand gently brushed over the bow and suddenly his calm eyes became somewhat surprised.

“This… is made of heaven wood!” The man exclaimed.

Once he uttered ‘heaven wood’, Shen Yanxiao got confused since she wasn’t familiar with this words.

The division master casually said: “You can say that this little kid has a little eyesight.”

The man’s eyes sparkled while playing with the seemingly ordinary longbow, unable to put it down.

“Wasn’t the heaven wood nearly extinct? I heard at present, there’s only one tree left but it is in the Moon God Continent and those elves have a very extreme belief toward the heaven tree to the point that they don’t allow anyone to harm it even a tiny bit. Division master, where did you get this piece of heaven wood?”

The division master humphed: “That’s none of your business. What, do you fancy it? This bow will only recognize one owner throughout its life and whoever can pull this bow shall be its owner.”
