The parke stockpiled enough of the vaccine to combat the bird flu and the other groups of birds was caught and tested then vaccinated for the bird flu that the geese had brought into the park. The owls was the group that was more resilent to the flu followed by the eagles. The park lost a couple of their baby bald eagles from the bird flu. The veultures seemed to be the group that had the worse case sernerio of it but Abby had already suspected that would be because they eat the dead animales. The park had a few Flamingos, Ostriches that was in the petty zoo part of the park
The cardnials, blue jays, finches, wood peckers, and swallows had their share of the flu also. It kept the park's doctor's staff busy making sure they vaccinated as many as they could then put them in holding cages. When they caught as many as they could then released the birds when they were healthy enough and had gotten a handle on the flu epedemic.
Abby wanted as many of the park's animals check for any kind of disease for that breed of animal possible. She hoped by spring the park's animals would be healthy and the park's petty area and bird sanctary would be up and running again The rangers sat different kinds of live traps and the squirrels gathering up their nuts for the winter thought the nuts in the live traps was easy picking .the doctor noticed that some of the park's squirrel populating had the balding disease from the Douglasi mites Another group had the bubonic plague from the fleas in the woods.
