The Spider's Fly - Page 31/49

The following week, Lindsey’s mother decided to purchase an audio recorder. Instead of repeatedly being told that there was no abuse going on, every time she reported it, she decided to just gather the proof and then report it to the school district officer instead. Once the school week was completed, Linda had gathered enough information to move forward to reporting it to the next level. The following week, Lindsey went to school as usual, while her mother went to the school district office, with the evidence she had obtained. Linda was asked to leave the evidence there for the district officer to go over when she had time. This was not a problem, since she had already made copies of the audio tapes for just in case. For the next few days, the district officer went over the information presented. After going over all of the audio, she realized that there was a legitimate concern. She immediately contacted Lindsey's mother, and assured her that she was going to take care of the problem. Mrs. Denmark was placed on immediately suspension for the rest of the week. Though Lindsey was the one that took the brunt of the abuse, the other students were all happy, to see that there was a substitute teacher in place of Mrs. Denmark. The students weren't aware of why Mrs. Denmark was out, or if and when she was coming back. All they knew was that their teacher wasn’t there, and that made them very happy. Due to rainy weather, for the next few days, the students stayed in doors for recess time. They played board games and lots of other indoor activities. As the students returned to the classroom the following week, they were disappointed to see that Mrs. Denmark had returned. Unfortunately, despite being suspended, her attitude was no different than it was before she left. In fact, to Lindsey, she seemed even more mean, (if that was at all possible).
