The Spider's Fly - Page 44/49

The next day, the kids were all well rested and woke up to the fresh smell of bacon on a beautiful Tuesday morning. Their mother was just finishing up making their breakfast and their father Mike had already left for work. Linda couldn’t wait for the kids to finish their breakfast as she had some really great news to give them. Mike had worked enough hours that year that Linda was able to save enough money for them to go on a nice vacation for Lindsey’s 11th birthday. Usually every year they would go camping for just a few days at Comanche lake, but this time they were able to afford to go to Clearlake and stay at a nice indoor cottage at a nice resort. Linda broke the news. The kids were so excited about their anticipated trip that they could hardly contain themselves. With Lindsey’s birthday still over a week away, how was Laura going to be able to deal with the kids until then. She ordered them all to go play at the park while she stay home and clean house and take care of their baby sister Angelina. For the next few days the kids killed time by keeping themselves busy playing at the park. Finally the weekend came. The kids got up early Saturday morning and peeked out the window toward the park and saw that Debbie had already opened the recreation center. All of the kids hurried over and told Debbie how much fun they had on their Sly Park adventure and how they couldn’t wait for the next event. Debbie announced that there was going to be a hula-hoop competition coming up soon if the kids were interested in signing up. Lindsey knew that she wasn’t very good at hula-hoop and declined the offer. Mike Jr. said it’s for girls and also declined. But Laura was extremely excited and told Debbie to please sign her up. For the next entire week Laura worked on her hula-hoop skills while the other kids played at the park as usual. Finally Friday had arrived and the kids were ready to go play at the park as always. Linda told the kids that they needed to make sure to come home by 6pm because they all needed to pack since they were leaving for their Clear lake trip first thing in the morning. They were all so excited about their trip that they didn’t even want to go to the park this time. But their mother had tons to do to get ready for the trip and assured them that time would fly by if they were having fun at the park.
