Hoot-hoot! She pushed the horn. Guards scrambled to get the gates open. His fingers gripped the seats in front of him causing indents. He tensed as they squeezed through the gate. Circus! His mind screamed.
“See you later!” she shouted and waved, grinning at guards shaking their heads.
“Where are we heading?” Diane asked casually.
“Out.”
“Not telling?”
“Not today.”
“Not even a clue?” She shook her head. Diane sighed. Nodding in his direction. “Who is he?”
“Diane meet Miguel. Miguel meet Diane.” She kept the introduction brief.
“So, what’s the story?”
“No story. Keeping the promise, I made, my way.”
“He will ruin a perfect day.”
“It’s either we take him with or risk my father’s wrath.”
“I am still in the car!” he growled. “I need more room!” Both women shifted their seats forward. “Watch out!” he yelled as she entered the fast lane without looking. Missing the front of a truck with mere inches. “Are you nuts?”
“Relax, mother made me take advanced driving lessons when I got my licence.”
“Did you even see the truck?”
“Of course.”
“You could have fooled me!”
Hastily Diane switched the radio on. Took the flash stick and inserted it into the slot. Cranking the volume to maximum while she waited for their song to load. Boston started to play rendering any conversation impossible.
