CHAPTER ONE
A Pryce Worth Paying - 1
Aliziana heard an unexpected loud knock at her apartment door. It was almost eleven thirty at night and no one had called to be let up so she became alarmed. Tired and prepared to go to sleep she wasn't in the mood for visitors - not family, friends or neighbours at that late hour.
At first she thought that someone had knocked on the wrong door but then a second thunderous knock followed and it startled her, causing her heart to beat rapidly in her chest. She was frightened by the abrupt commotion and annoyed as well. Who the hell can it be - it's almost midnight!
“Ali - let me in!” The man's voice was deep and forceful. It was not who she would have expected at that late time - it was Thomas Bellamy.
“What do want Thomas?” She demanded peering through the peep hole. Not wanting to open it, she braced herself on the door wtih both palms and waited, hoping that he would change his mind and leave.
