​ The wedding was held on July the twentysixth with a honeymoon in NYC. They attended several musicals. They had a couple of shopping trips and took a few walks in Central Park. Visited an abondon North Brother Island then a mansion that was left unoccupied for fourty years. When Maggie walked into that house she got chills running down her back and the ends of her hair stood up.

​ The couple settled into one of the bed and breakfast's little guest house . Sam had been hired at one of the largest architectural firms an hour's drive south in Waterford. Maggie was hired at the biggest magazine / newspaper firm also in Waterford. They both rode together which cut down on gasoline and wear and tear on one car and not two. Maggie settled into being the publishing editor and enjoyed it throughly. About nine months into the job her boss called her into his office.

​ He wanted her to be the first to know that the city was in financial ruins an the mayor and city aldermen was closing down the city. The mayor was going to have a news conference to announce it. He wanted her to cover the news conference.

The mayor started by apologizing to the community and announced the last day the city's people's government would be open for business would be the last day of the month. He blamed it on the tax bracket and the big increase in minium wage going extremely high. When Maggie got back to the office her laid off notice was on her desk. She realized a lot of the newer employees had already cleared off their desks...
