On the drive home Sam informed Maggie that he had been laid off also.. A lot of company's owners fired their employees on the spot. Some of the food chains ordered their places to throw away the good food and pack their belongings and leave within thirty minutes after the mayor's announcement. By the end of the week Waterford would look like a ghost town.
Maggie's last day was that coming Friday. While Sam was looking for employement north of Lexington Maggie drove the pickup to work, She left a little early. She arrived at the newspaper early to have the news ready for it's last issue. There would only be one paper made and given to the local news station to report all of the facts. She wasn't feeling that good and completed her job by ten thirty. She recieved her paycheck plus a hefty bonus and a letter of recommandation to give to potential jobs. She ran several copies of the letter off for future job opportunities. She stopped at the clinic and was told that she was going to be their last patient. She would have to go to their clinic up north in Mansville and they would be transferring all of the family's records up there.
