“Good to know, too bad we are not out on a date.” She raised her eyebrows at him and pushed a stray hair off her face.

“That’s what you think.” He smiled at her then, his intense gaze never leaving her face. She was doomed. He looked even yummier when he smiled.

“I am….” She tried to speak but could not find words. “You….” She cleared her throat, looked around the hotel for anyone eavesdropping, the hanging flowers, the wind chimes tinkling over their table. He was waiting for a response. She turned and looked at him, her kneecaps felt like they were cracking then she froze. Her body prickled with pure mortification. She never wanted to continue blubbing because her acute embarrassment was causing a hot flash. She hated the sweat fests as she called them whenever she was nervous.

“Let’s talk about you now. What’s your full names?” she tried to avoid his staring. She noticed the alarm on his face. “That question froze you like a constipated animal.” Ricky stared at her, his eyes almost twinkling out of his head with humor as she waited for an answer. He still paused for an imaginary drum roll.

“Ricky O’Donnell.” He wanted to lie but couldn’t.

“That’s a good name, I don’t know why you hesitated.” She saw the corner of his mouth twitch. He was trying not to smile.
