“Good for you. You know there’s a larger perspective that you can take solace from.” Flora rolled her eyes. Even in conversations she seemed to communicate in fragments, though she didn’t need to struggle to know that Angie was lying. It was all too clear and proved what she already suspected. There was no wedding.

“You’re right, life is short, random and ultimately pointless.” Angie said.

“There you go.” Flora said with a smile.

“Hey girls what are you guys still doing up?” Betty said as she walked down the stairs.

“It’s morning mom,”

“Okay, that explains a lot.” Betty scratched her messy hair and went back up.

“How do you put up with that?” Angie asked, all she wanted was to provoke Flora.

“You mean the mother daughter back and forth? It’s our sarcastic sense of humor.”

“I have a sarcastic sense of humor alright, you two are mean. Why don’t you stop avoiding your mother and just admit that your relationship with her is screwed up.”

“I won’t because then, I’ll have to deal with it.”

“It’s unhealthy.” Angie said

“I know I don’t have a healthy relationship with my mother but there’s nothing I can do about it so I’ve made peace with that.” She pointed at her smiling face. “See, peace.”
