Genevie told her some one keeps opening my window at night. Sister Sarah told her to get a bunch of crosses even if the are made out of sticks and whatever you do don't take off the amulet that is warding the thing off.
When she got home she packed her bag with a few changes of clothes, a regular bible she got from the library and three small crosses from the prop room. She wanted to leave that day but knew she would be automatically missed. She told herself tomorrow will be better.
That night again some one opened her window. Genevie pretended to be sleeping. She saw it was Sister Marie. That was the only nun in the group she thought was her true friend. if Sister Marie was liked that then it meant Sister Francis was that way also. She knew there was no one except herself now.
She got up and closed the window as the monster reached out his hand. He saw the amulet around her neck and let out the most unhealthy screech that she ever heard. Is eyes was deep red. he hit the window with his right long claw fingers.
She forgot what Sister Sarah said about running away in the daylight. She grabbed her bag and left. she realized that was a mistake.he was flying over her and was swooping down toward her when she noticed the drain system and slid down into it.
He reached in as far as he could. Genevie noticed the drain system led to the city's storm system. She walked in water up to her knees. She could see that it started raining.. She walked a little farther. She could see people lifting the grates and looking in. if she hadn't hid in the bend she would have been seen.
She overheard on of the search party tell the rest with the rain it would be useless to use the dogs. People could hear what sounded like howling. One of the nuns told them that was Genevie's dog being upset.
Genevie could see flashlight beams heading her way in the drainage tunnel. She started walking faster. The was a fork in the tunnel section. She turned right not knowing if she was going the right way but it was better than staying where she was.
She saw a sign on the side of the wall that pointed one way to the library. She thought I could hide there and put a dry change of clothes on. She headed that way as quickly as she could without making noise.
When she reached the library she started to sneak up the basement stairs when she heard people upstairs opening and closing doors. That idea was out of the question, She turned and quickly went back into the drainage tunnel.
