Then something inside of her told her I am with you and I am going to help you to get to safety. As soon as she heard that voice in her heart the rain came back. it was really pouring down this time.
Genevie knew that monster couldn't be flying around looking for her. She also knew most of the searchers would also give up and quit searching. She made her way out of the alley. She stayed in the shadows of the buildings until she reached the church
Sister Sarah had told her that the side door of the church was always unlocked. She heard the big huge wings flapping again. The rain had stopped and he was out hunting her again. She noticed the back stairs to the church had a few steps going to the basement.
That door too was locked but under the stairs was an area that she couldn't be spotted from the ground. She crouched in that tight space. She felt in her bag and found the crosses. She laid them on the concrete stones in there and started talking to Sister Sarah's God.
She begged him to keep her safe and told him that she didn't want to die not for that beast but wouldn't mind dying for him. She didn't know the exact words to say but she did her best. she asked him to forgive her of her sins and please be with her.
Shortly after that she took out her soft throw and covered up. She felled to sleep. She was waken by the sounds of those two men. She knew if the doors was still locked she would be on her own running. She wasn't sure where she would go .
When the men quit talking she thought they had left so she decided to try the doors again. She climbed out of the little cubby hole right in front of them sitting on the step. She started to run when one of them grabbed her arm.
He said hey Frank I think Genevie found us. He introduced himself as Father Donahue and the other man as Father Frank Chaffe. They helped Genevie in and while she was taking a good warm shower ont of the fathers was washing all of her clothes while the other one fixed her something to eat.
They put her to bed in the same room that Sister Sarah slept in with so many crosses on the walls and tables that no monster of any kind could get in. The next morning very early her clothes had been packed.
A basket of food had been packed and a nuns habit had been laid out for her. Right after breakfast a nun came in and gave Genevie a tetanus shot The two fathers took her to the dock where boarded a cargo ship heading to Italy.
