"Wow. Now that is a man I wouldn't mind spending a day in bed with." Angela said bringing Mandisa back to reality. She turned to the older woman surprised. Angela Motaung was some piece of work. Here she was in the middle of a divorce because of her infidelity and already she was thinking of getting into some stranger's pants. The woman had no shame. Not that Mandisa was any better. She had also been thinking what it would be like to be with such a man. The difference was that she was single.
Mandisa shook her head disgusted.
"What do you think," Angela asked her eyes still on the stranger. "Should I go for him?" Mandisa looked at her wondering what had happened to her wanting to stay married to her husband, and then decided she didn't care to know. She produced a pen from her briefcase.
"Sign the divorce papers and you can go for whoever you want." Mandisa said handing her the pen and pushing the divorce papers towards the other woman. Angela looked at the papers then up at Mandisa, there was doubt in her eyes.
"This is moving too fast." Angela claimed. "I can't think straight." she said pushing her chair back."
"Where are you going?" Mandisa asked panicking. She couldn't stand to represent Angela Motaung a second longer.
"I'm going to the bathroom. I need a moment." Angela said taking her bag and heading for the rest room. Mandisa relaxed a bit. Her mission today was to get Angela to sign the divorce papers and allow her husband to pick up the pieces of his miserable life. Mandisa didn't want to leave the restaurant with the divorce still pending. It wasn't fair on the poor man. Involuntarily she turned to look at the handsome stranger. He was looking at a menu, oblivious of the attention he was getting. Mandisa had a feeling he was used to getting attention. He was handsome beyond the word, or rather she thought so as she had never been so aware of a man before. He was too far for her to see the color of his eyes but she was willing to bet that they were deep and soulful. Just the kind of eyes a girl could lose herself in.
The waitress approached his table, blocking Mandisa's view. She turned back to her table embarrassed at her behavior. It was so unlike her to behave in such a way; staring at a man and imagining all sorts of crazy things about him. So what if his eyes were soulful? It wasn't as if she was going to lose herself in them. She knew better than that and she participated in many divorces to believe in love and ever after.
