Dun-Ta-Go-Ta-Ta-Go… Go-Go-Go-Go-Go… Dun-Ta-Dun-Ta-Ta…. Ta-Ta-Dun-Dun… Dun-Ta-Go-Ta-Ta-Go… Go-Go-Go-Go-Go… Dun-Ta-Dun-Ta-Ta…. Ta-Ta-Dun-Dun… Dun-Ta-Go-Ta-Ta-Go… Go-Go-Go-Go-Go… Dun-Ta-Dun-Ta-Ta…. Ta-Ta-Dun-Dun… The music crescendo and then fell again- up down up down the crazy beats were flying making no sense or rhyme or reason as they tried to out beat the other one. Mia took a seat in the audience and watched with the others as her father and Jayden made complete idiots of themselves on the stage.
Jayden was sweating by the time they had stopped the jam session. If he couldn't stand that old geezer before, his feelings bordered downright hatred for him right now. Why did he have to be so damn good and why couldn't Mia stop smiling at him?
"How you like my playing?" Skip asked as each of them pulled up some extra chairs and sat at the table with Mia, Avery, Nita and A.J.
"Is that what you called what you two were doing?" She asked with sarcasm.
"That's some old school beats right there… You wouldn't know anything about that." He teased as he took out his handkerchief wiping away the sweat on his forehead. Jayden observed Skip's arm going around Mia's shoulder, and he suddenly reached up and outward placing his own arm around her shoulder first. Mia and Skip both looked up at him. Jayden ignored their stares.
"It's hot in here… Is there any air?" He pretended like this was the norm. Skip looked at Jayden and then he laid his arm upon Jayden's arm that was draped across Mia's shoulder. That got his attention.
"Sweetheart want something to drink?" Skip asked.
"I'll take a cranberry juice, thanks Skip" Jayden responded and Skip gave him a hard glare.
"Orange juice… I'll take an orange juice" Mia suddenly burst out while placing a gentle hand on her father's side begging him not to start anything. Jayden saw the intimacy between the two of them and misunderstood it. Suddenly he stood up taking Mia by the hand.
"Let's talk" he blurted out as he led her out of the room through the corridor and through the shop all the way to the exit door and outside to the parking lot.
"Jayden what's wrong with you" she asked.
"Who the hell is Skip to you" he demanded and his voice shook with anger.
"I didn't know that we had that kind of relationship that we bothered with each other's personal lives" she reminded him.
