Man Up - Page 222/268

"Great, I needed another shower." She said as she looked around searching for shelter. Then she thought to give Nita a call asking her to give her the car key so that she could wait for them in the car. She quickly opened up her handbag and began digging around for her cell phone.

"Hmm, now where did I put it?" She silently questioned herself as she scavenged her bag looking for her cell phone. She was already soaking and wet through the bone and a chill was beginning to set in. Suddenly she remembered. Her father had borrowed her phone this morning.

"Damn… Lovely… This is just lovely." She cursed as she looked up at the darkened sky looking for a sign that the rain was relenting. There was none. She took her handbag and held it over her head to shield her eyes. She scanned the area looking for a pay phone but saw none. She walked back under the small awning of the theater and took the small measure of cover that was offered by it.

Jayden watch with amusement as she stood getting soaked and wet in the rain.

"Ha-ha… that's what you get." He mocked and teased her as he leaned back in the comfort of his dry and warm car. He was getting a great charge at watching her discomfort and misery. Suddenly thundering and lightning came out of nowhere.

"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah" he heard her screaming as he watched her covering her ears and running wildly as the murderous thunder boomed and ominous lightning cut across the sky. He could tell that she was terrified and suddenly the incident wasn't funny anymore. He started his car and pulled out of his parking space up to the curb where she was running around looking for better shelter. He blew his horn but she seemed too disoriented in her fright to be paying attention. Throwing his car into neutral, he opened the door and jumped out of the car running to her side.

"Mia… Mia…" He called taking her into his arms. She was more than terrified, she was a basket case as Jayden watched her face as she was frantically crying and screaming.

They drove in silence and neither of them had anything to say. The silence was intermittently disrupted with her sniffling and then suddenly: "Ah…ah… choooo…. Ah-choo-ah-choo-ah-choo…" Mia began sneezing. Jayden looked at her and she was dripping like a wet puppy. He took an arm reaching over the seat of his car to the backseat. Suddenly his hand reappeared. In it was a dark colored cotton towel.
