Chapter 787: Shade of Eranikus

The two Aspect bosses had to be dealt with as they had an ultimate skill that deflected players away. If Lu Li had accidentally been flicked into a pile of monsters, he would have undoubtedly died.
As such, he decided to go around the two Aspects to clear the surrounding monsters first.
The Shade of Eranikus was the final Boss in the Temple of Hakkar and was one of the most difficult to defeat.
It was a large green dragon, but what was strange was that its figure was transparent. This was similar to Illidan's presence, which Lu Li had farmed many equipment and skill books from.
"Let's begin. Be careful." Lu Li didn't want to say too much; he did not want to seem like he knew what was going to happen.
Azure Sea Breeze took the aggro of the Boss, and was immediately put to Sleep.
As the main tank had been crowd-controlled, the other members of the squad immediately became targets. One by one, they were killed by Eranikus' Shade. This complete massacre had occurred in under a minute.
Lu Li was not lucky enough to escape either. Using Stealth when facing this Boss was simply wishful thinking. He chose not to use his Darkmoon Card, as even if he died, he would not lose experience in an Instance Dungeon.
The others were not discouraged and sat down together, eating bread to recover HP and MP. Being killed in an Instance Dungeon was not a rare occurrence anyway.
"It affected me with Sleep, so what can I do?" Azure Sea Breeze asked with a face of misery.
"It seems that this Boss is not forgiving; it might even use its Sleep skill from the start to the end of the fight," Lu Li sighed. This skill was simply too deadly.
In inflicted deep Sleep on its target, rendering them frozen, but unable to be attacked for 8 seconds.
The target of the spell was usually the closest player to the Boss, who was in most circumstances the Main Tank. In the eight seconds that the Main Tank was affected with Sleep, the Boss would be able to lay waste to their team and wiped them out.
Even losing one member would be devastating, let alone the whole team. They might as well forfeit the mission at that point.
"Let's think of some strategies. Machine Bro, can you dispel the Sleep? If you can be quick enough, you should be able to control the aggro," Azure Sea Breeze suggested, looking like he was in deep thought.
"I can't. I already tried," Machine Bro said as he shrugged his shoulders.
"If Azure Sea Breeze is affected by Sleep, would it be possible for another person to lure the Boss around until he recovers?" Nuo Yu asked.
"It's impossible. Didn't you all see it before? The Boss also has ranged attacks, and none of us can tank more than a couple of hits. We definitely wouldn't last for eight seconds. Even after the Sleep wears off, the Boss would instantly use it on another person," Lu Li said, rejecting the idea.
However, he was quite impressed with all the strategies they were coming up with. In reality, a majority of teams operated like this. They would discuss strategies together, instead of having one sole commander.
"Is it possible to have a person crawl underneath the Boss?" Kitty Likes Meat suddenly piped up.
Unexpectedly, this PVP player was the first one to think of a strategy like this. It could be true that the game training that she had received from a young age had resulted her in being more outstanding than an average player.
"Hmm, that sounds possible. Who's willing to volunteer as tribute?" Azure Sea Breeze asked with a clap.
"I have the highest DPS," Lu Li said quickly excusing himself from this role.
"I'm a healer," Machine Bro added.
"My DPS is also quite high." Nuo Yu was number two on the DPS rankings.
"I need to use Bloodlust."
Sakura Memories also found a reason to avoid the role. However, it was true that she was quite useful, and her DPS was decent as well.
"Wow, why are you all looking at me like that?" Drifting Rain asked defensively. His DPS in his original team was among the highest, but with Lu Li and the others, he was at the very bottom.
"Hold on. We can't let Drifting Rain go. When the summoned monsters appear, there will be no one there to tank them," Lu Li said, stopping them.
Drifting Rain was now acting in Wandering's role.
"Who are you calling to go? Even if you kill me I won't go," Hachi Chan protested. She always thought that Lu Li would sacrifice her.
"I didn't ask for you to go," Lu Li said as he softly slapped her head, then pointed at Remnant Dream's pet and continued, "Later, when the fight begins, let it crawl underneath the Boss and stay there."
"No, not my pet! Remnant Dream cried.
"Then you can go," Lu Li coldly commanded.
"Actually, I don't think there are negatives to being affected by Sleep anyway. There's no need to waste energy fighting the Boss, so let my pet carry this responsibility."
As soon as she heard that she would be the one to be affected by Sleep, Remnant Dream instantly sold out her own pet.
Boss: Round Two.
Remnant Dream had exquisite control over her pet and easily manoeuvred it underneath the Boss' neck. Now that there was a large Spider between Azure Sea Breeze and the Boss, he would not be affected by Sleep at all. The Boss only casted Sleep on the enemy that was closest to it.
After this problem had been solved, the next thing that they had to worry about was War Stomp.
This skill damaged surrounding enemies and stunned them for four seconds, which also caused a headache for Main Tanks. However, they would maintain aggro after being Stunned, so the Boss wouldn't go on a rampage through their team.
On the other hand, Deep Sleep would clear all aggro.
Lu Li was hit by War Stomp once and had to carefully reposition himself around the battlefield to avoid being hit again.
Meanwhile, Remnant Dream's large Spider pet had not woken up even once. It was constantly hit with War Stomp and affected by Deep Sleep. If it could speak, it would surely curse itself for its misfortunes.
The Boss would also use Wing Flap occasionally, forcing all the players in the frontline backwards.
Even the Main Tank and Remnant Dream's pet would be repelled, so a quick reorganisation would be needed to avoid another massacre. The first time that everyone was hit with Wing Flap, they could not reposition themselves fast enough and were all killed.
On their third attempt, they managed to shave off half of the Shade of Eranikus' HP.
However, a new problem had emerged – the Shade of Eranikus would summon four large dragons to protect it. These were the same as the ones that they had faced before, but this time, they had evolved from small bosses into formidable monsters.
Fortunately, Drifting Rain was still around to bravely tank the damage for his teammates.
